Scholarships and Financial Assistance
We believe that access to the water, and the skills to navigate it, should be available to everyone regardless of age, background or ability. It’s our mission to inspire, educate, and empower everyone to experience the unrivaled beauty of Lake Memphremagog the best way we know: on the water.
Financial assistance including partial and full scholarships for qualifying community members is available. The number of scholarships available and the amounts vary from season to season.
Financial Assistance
Newport Community Sailing Center has limited funds available to provide financial assistance for families who wish to enroll in our summer day camp program but are unable to afford the full price. Assistance available includes multiple enrollments from one family, structured payment plans, and a "camperships"— partial or total scholarships for our camp programs.
Eligibility for financial assistance is income based. Interested parents/guardians are asked to present ONE of the following documents in person to demonstrate financial need:
1) Vermont EBT Card
2) Medicaid (Green Mountain Care) Card
3) Paystub from last 60 days OR previous year W2
Information submitted is confidential. Documents will be reviewed by staff and returned to the customer; copies will not be made or retained. Eligibility for financial assistance does not guarantee a slot in the programs.

Scholarships
2024 NEK Learn to Sail Youth Scholarship
This scholarship program is designed to introduce local youth to the lifetime joys sailing. Several scholarships are available for the 2024 summer camp program to young residents of the Northeast Kingdom that have the desire, but not the means, to learn to sail. These scholarships allow selected individuals to attend three-weeks of sailing camp at no cost to the participants.
Interested youth apply for the program by writing an essay describing why they are interested in learning to sail and providing endorsements from teachers, friends, and community leaders.
